![]() The upper wear layer of vinyl tiles prevents dirt buildup, reducing the amount of dust and grime that can start to cover a garage floor. Vinyl tiles are easy to wipe clean and are resistant to most chemicals. Garage use often results in the area becoming dirty, with the floor getting the brunt of it. It is an area that we use to store our car or other equipment and is also regularly used for a wide range of DIY jobs. The garage is a place that can often be hard to keep clean. Unlike concrete, vinyl is a softer product, which will be much kinder to objects that are dropped on it. Like concrete, vinyl tiles are an extremely hardwearing product that can cope with almost anything that is thrown at it. One major reason to consider using vinyl floor tiles in a garage is their strength and durability. So, why should consumers consider vinyl tiles for their garage floors? Here are some top reasons: While aesthetics are not always a priority for a garage, having a floor that looks good is never a bad thing. This type of flooring can be fitted to an existing concrete garage floor and can often add some color and style to the space. One alternative to concrete flooring that is becoming increasingly popular in garages throughout the country is vinyl floor tiles. Concrete floors can also stain quite easily with oils that are particularly hard to remove. It can, however, chip away over time and attracts dust and dirt with relative ease. As a flooring option, concrete is extremely strong and hard wearing. The majority of homeowners tend to stick with concrete as the top choice for their garage floors as it means no additional expense. Lastly, exposure to moisture from rain, snow or sleet and varying temperatures will have a damaging effect on both tile and sheet flooring. When it comes to installing flooring in a garage, most people think the process ends once the concrete is poured onto the foundations. Also, the oils and antioxidants used in the manufacturing process of rubber tires will cause a permanent yellow discoloration to any resilient (vinyl) flooring. If these liquids are leaked onto the resilient flooring, they can get into the joints of the tile and break down the adhesive, creating a bonding issue, and possibly leading to an installation failure. After installation, the temperature should be maintained at a minimum of 55 degrees.Īnother issue with garage floors involves spilled or dripped liquids from automobiles, such as brake, transmission and oil. Normally, garages are not temperature-controlled. ![]() Armstrong products do not meet this standard, and therefore should not be installed in areas where vehicles will be parked on the surface of an Armstrong floor.Īrmstrong flooring should only be installed in temperature-controlled environments. The codes specify that garage floor surfaces should contain approved, non-combustible material. In order for flooring materials to be installed in residential or commercial garages, the flooring material must meet the International Residential Code R 309 for garages and carports for one- and two-family residential buildings or the International Building Code 406.2 for all other buildings. We do not generally recommend that our flooring products be installed in garages. Can I use a non-Armstrong Flooring adhesive with an Armstrong Flooring product?.If the flooring retailer where your floor was purchased is no longer in business, please contact our customer service department, and we will assist you. If the retailer does not know what to do, please have them contact Armstrong Flooring. However, if the problem is the result of an installation or on-site related issue, it would not be covered under our warranty.Įven if your floor was not installed by the retailer you purchased it from, the retailer is still responsible for starting the inspection process. If your problem is a warranty issue, the retailer will submit a claim form to Armstrong Flooring. If you do not have a receipt, we will not be able to help your retailer with an inspection or claim. From your receipt, the retailer should be able to identify the name and model number of your floor. We do not have individual representatives to inspect your floor - instead, we rely on our flooring retailers who are trained and authorized to start the claims investigation process.īring your sales receipt to show your proof of purchase. I let them sit and dry and then tied a small bit of red and white bakers twine at the top for a tie. I found that keeping one of the snowflakes in place in the paper worked as a guide and helped me to line the other snowflakes up. To create the snowflake ornament, simply apply several of the snowflakes together, spritz them with resist spray and sprinkle them with glitter. Then all the elements were brought together and adhered using collage medium, foam tape then applied to a card base. I dabbed collage medium onto the funky pieces and sprinkled them with glitter to give them a festive and frosty look. Greens and berries were cut from scraps of inked and plain watercolor papers and the Funky Festive thinlet set. I stamped the phrase “Dashing Through the Snow” (Scenic Holiday CMS391) onto a scrap of paper and embossed the phrase with Fired Brick Embossing Glaze. The edge of the piece was then stitched and matted onto another piece of watercolor paper. The ink on the stamp was then spritzed with water, then stamped onto the paper. Festive Berries distress ink was applied to the music background stamp. I cut a small piece of watercolor paper into a small rectangle. The snowflake was then sprayed with Distress Resist Spray then spritzed with Clear Rock Candy Glitter that was in a Glitter Duster. Then adhered a few together with Distress Collage Medium. I cut out several of the different sizes of snowflake out of watercolor paper. I loved how they came out, so bright and festive! Some of the spritzed and dripped areas were sprinkled with Fired Brick Embossing Glaze and embossed with my embossing gun. ![]() This one was a mix of both the Aged Mahogany plus a spritz and drips of Festive Berries spray stain. Some of my backgrounds were lighter, if I added more water to the inks, and some were brighter, if I added more of the stain. ![]() I played around with this technique and created a few backgrounds. Then I spritzed the paper with water and Aged Mahogany Spray Stain, then dried the areas with my heat tool. Using Distress Embossing Ink, I randomly stamped some of the snowflakes and bits of the music onto a sheet of watercolor paper, then sprinkled them with white embossing powder and heat embossed the images. The red and white greens were cut out using the Funky Festive Thinlet set. I created the background of the card using spray stains, water and white embossing powder and the Grunge Flakes CMS098 and Music and Adverts CMS358 Stamp Sets. The smaller one was used of the front of my card and I layered a few of both sizes together to create an ornament that can be tucked within the card and mailed or tied onto a gift. I layered a few of each of the sizes together to create a 3d effect. It’s crazy how they can make something that cuts out so much detail. It is a thinlet set that comes with 2 sizes of snowflakes that are both very detailed and delicate. This card was created using the new thinlet set, Stunning Snowflake. In Jamaica though it was too humid so the matches wouldn’t light – in true Hollywood style we had a guy behind the scenes with a hairdryer keeping the matches dry so we could pull off that trick for the film. I would light up a match on the book of matches, leaving it attached and then slide the matches down the bar to the person with the cigarette. This trick was great because it would make me so many tips back in the day. When someone pulled out a cigarette at the bar I had this basket full of match books next to the register. I used to do this trick when I worked in the bar (bearing in mind this was when you used to be able to smoke in a bar). Jamaica was really great but challenging as well. So I gave them the video of the Bartending Olympics contest from a few weeks before and I got the gig! Before I knew it I was being flown out to all these places, spending 1 month filming in New York, another month filming in Toronto and another month filming in Jamaica – it wasn’t a dream come true, it was beyond my wildest dreams! So I made the ladies their drink in my normal way, throwing in a bit of flair and next thing I know one of the ladies is telling me she works for Disney Studios and is actually looking for someone to train Bryan Brown and Tom Cruise for an upcoming film. It would always go down a treat and they always seemed to like it! This can happen a lot when working behind the bar so I gave them my usual answer which was, ‘I’ll make you a drink, if you don’t like it, I’ll buy it’. I approached them to ask them what they wanted to drink as normal and they replied that they didn’t know what they wanted. Before you know it some of the other bartenders who I worked with started having a go and TGI Fridays decided to take it up a notch and hosted the first flair bartending competition I knew of at that time, the Bartending Olympics.Īnyway, I happened to win the contest and then a few weeks later a couple of young ladies walked into the bar. I was making work fun for myself and as it happens it was making it fun for the guests as well, I noticed that what I was doing was catching their eye. I started by messing around with glasses and shakers at home, flipping them whilst standing on the couch so I didn’t break anything or cause too much damage, eventually I took it into the bar as I got better and started doing it with bottles and other stuff. I was getting a little tired of saying the same things over and over again when people came in so I thought I would try something new! I was working in TGI Fridays in Los Angeles and I was new there, so I was getting all the jobs no one wants to do and the boring stuff. “The funny thing is I started flair purely out of boredom one day.
